It feels a bit like we are unbattening the hatches after a period of enforced house arrest today. What a joy it was to see sunshine and be able to throw open the doors this morning and let the children out into the garden and onto the trampoline. It has been raining in Dubai and Dubai (like me) doesn't do rain. So a state of National Emergency has been delcared roads and schools have been closed - all for three days rain, heavy but not of monsoon proportions, the sort you get on a average wet day in Ormskirk! Earlier in the week the roads and schools were clased again when Mr Bush popped into the Burg Al Arab for a cup of tea. So all in all it's been a funny old week!
Infuriating as well. My lovely plans for my weeks work with the school children (did I tell you I am teaching reception (foundation 2) at Jess now?) have been ruined. We were cutting up fruit and looking at the seeds, we'd planted cress seed in yogurt pots and we going to watch them grow. By now the fruit will be rotten and the seeds beanstalks, not to mention what happens to children when kept indoors for a week. I was notified at 10 O'clock at night on Tuesday that the school would be closed for the rest of the week. Now they want me to go in for a planning meeting at 12.30, I wonder what I am meant to do with the 7 children I am looking after this morning (My 3, my friend Jan's 2 while she goes for a CAT scan and 2 on play dates). I think I might take them all with me. I hope the meeting diesn't take to long as I've booked a hair appointment too!
I have a picture of the rain - but it's in my phone and I don't know how to get it out so I will have to wait until gadget man comes home.
Can someone fill me in on Sheila please?
Janet
